Margaret Anna Mekush

Margaret was the youngest of six siblings, two sisters and three brothers.  Margaret attended Corpus Christi High School through her Junior year in 1950. Soon after, she acquired her GED. 

On September 2, 1950, Margaret married John Paul Mekush. Together, they raised three boys and one girl. Their family continued to grow with five grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. 

Margaret and John celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on September 2, 2000, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, followed by a 6:00 pm mass at St. Peter's Prince of the Apostle Catholic Church. 

After John's retirement, Margaret and John enjoyed traveling throughout the southern states, from California to Florida.  Every now and then, they would stop to play a little cards or slots, just for fun. 

Margaret's love of her life, John, passed away on June 11, 2002, but she kept going by spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Margaret had a quiet strength and never complained.  She was active at her church.  She never missed a service while she could drive.  If there was a bake sale or church dinner, she was there helping.

Margaret was a great cook.  Everyone enjoyed her food, and no one ever left her house without her trying to feed them. She even made sure the hummingbirds that visited the feeder at her kitchen window were always fed. 

Margaret was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a great role model for us all.
