Maria Deleon

Maria Guadalupe “Lupe” DeLeon passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on July 31, 2010 at the age of 83. She struggled with Alzheimer’s for many years. She was born September 22, 1926 in Driscoll, Texas to Concepcion and Maria Escamilla. She was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband of 70 years, Pablo DeLeon and her ten children, Arturo (Margaret) DeLeon, Alicia (Tomas) Rodriguez, Amelia Tighe, Armando (Maria Delia) DeLeon, Adolfo DeLeon, Able (Mary) DeLeon, Aida (Louis Fernando) Deases, Alma (Siro) Elizalde, Anna M. (Fred) Ramos, Angie DeLeon (Glenda Garza); her precious 17 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; three sisters and two brothers. Visitation will be on Sunday, August 1, 2010 from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. The Rosary will be recited on Monday, August 2, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Immediately following the Rosary the Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. Michael Howell and Rev. Msgr. Morgan Rowsome as con-celebrants. Entombment will follow in the Robstown Memorial Park. The family would like to give a very special thank you to Yolanda Martinez and Madeline Runnels for the special care they provided to our beloved mother. Also the family would like to thank Rev. Msgr. Michael Howell and Rev. Msgr. Morgan Rowsome for providing her with her spiritual care. Pallbearers will be Javier DeLeon, Mario Arnold Rodriguez, Albert Loera, Andy DeLeon, Rene Elizalde and Marcos Deases. Honorary Pallbearers will be Christopher DeLeon, Terry Rodriguez and Rudy Elizalde. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Alzheimer’s Association.
