Marylyn Joan Webb, 75, of Mathis Texas, passed away after a short battle with lung cancer on June 16, 2024.
She was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on September 5, 1948, to Ottie and Lillie “Lil” Zieger. Marylyn graduated from Calallen High School in 1966.
She enjoyed dancing to country music in the arms of her one and only; sewing, cooking, baking, and gardening, especially for and with her family; fishing off of piers and hunting deer; reading novels and history; listening to and singing along with the music her family made at reunions and gatherings; watching her children’s and grandchildren’s artistic performances and sporting events; taking an occasional cruise; teaching her loved ones to fold fitted sheets; sharing her hearty, boisterous laugh with loved ones; and relaxing at the end of the day with solitaire and a Miller Lite.
She worked at numerous jobs over the years, including the Southwestern Bell telephone company and the business office at Texas A&I University. An on-again, off-again entrepreneur, she typed term papers, theses, and dissertations for college students; handmade and sold clothes and doll clothes; and sound-engineered and managed business affairs for her daughter’s country music band for two years.
She was a member of numerous organizations over the years, including Women’s Club of Kingsville, booster organizations for various school activities, and various ministries at her home parishes over the years, such as pre-Cana marital counseling and altar societies.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ottie; her grandparents, Rudolf and Hattie Zieger and Frank and Josephine Hlavik, and her grandson, Owen Webb.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 57 years, Douglas Dean “Doug” Webb; her mother Lil; her sisters, Jean (Charlie) Chapman and Carol Cox of Corpus Christi, Terry (Cliff) Brewer of Livingston, and Narcille (David) Morton of George West; her children, Melissa “Missy” (Christopher) Case of Apollo Beach, Florida, Brian (Melissa) Webb of San Antonio, and Victoria Visel of Scottsdale, Arizona; her grandchildren, Hannah Wilie of Dripping Springs; Julia Wilie of San Antonio; Sophia, Natalie, Zachary, Samuel, and David Webb (Brian and Melissa); Pearce and Scottie Visel (Victoria); her sister-in-law, Jeanie Sorenson of Refugio, and numerous cousins, aunts, nieces, nephews, and many, many dear friends.
