Melvin Mauer

Melvin E. Mauer, 91 died Thursday December 20, 2018. He was born in Cuero, Texas on November 5, 1927 to Eugene R. Mauer and Nita Froelich Mauer. He graduated from Corpus Christi High School and entered the Navy in 1944. He served in the Navy during World War II. He received his Bachelors Degree in 1952 for Secondary Education from A and I Kingsville. Soon after he met the love of his life Kay Dawson and the following year they were married. While pursuing his career in education he received his Master of Science degree in 1961. He taught at Zavala Elementary and Mary Caroll High schools. He finished his career in1985 as Dean of Allied Science At Del Mar College. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Kay Mauer; children, Deborah (Ken) Nugent, Dana (Corby) Peace, Dawn Mauer, and David Mauer; grand children, Portia Adkins, Charles Adkins, Sean (Rachel) Rush; and great grand child Seja Anderson. There we be a celebration of his life at the Coastal Bend Hall at Mirador Retirement Community, 5857 Timbergate Drive, Corpus Christi, on Thursday December 27th, at 10 AM.
