Michael Mccown

Michael DeWitt McCown, age 72, died Friday, January 12th in Houston, Texas. Michael is survived by his loving wife Sue (nee Winkelmann) and his sister Kate (Buzz) Loeffler of Houston, and many nieces, nephews and adoring family. Mike was beloved by his cousins and extended family and he will be missed greatly.   Michael was born November 1, 1945 in West Columbia, Texas and grew up in Houston, but had strong ties to his Irish relatives in South Texas. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph H. McCown and Ada Magee McCown and his siblings, Bettye McCown Erhler, Joe McCown and Mary Ann McCown.   Michael was a graduate of St. Thomas High School and the University of Houston - Clear Lake. He was a proud Marine veteran. Michael loved family history, was an avid genealogist and enjoyed meeting relatives from all across the country.   Visitation will be Sunday, January 14th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at St. Patrick's Church in San Patricio, with a Rosary to follow. A funeral mass will be held Monday, January 15th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's, with burial to follow in the adjacent cemetery.
