Richard M. Johns died suddenly on August 18, 2024, at Christus Spohn - Shoreline. He is preceded in death by his Father Richard Johns, Sr., Mother Patricia Murphy and his sister Peg Johns. He is survived by his loving wife Kathryn of Corpus Christi; sons Matthew and Philip also of Corpus Christi; and his sister, Lynn Colby (Robert) of Woodbridge, VA.Rich was a Veteran of the United States Air Force where he proudly served for 10 years as an Avionics Technician. He served in Desert Shield/Storm (aka the first Iraq war).On June 29, 1996, he married the love of his life, Kathryn in Anglesey, Wales (U.K.). They intended to settle in the United States, but fate had other plans, and they ended up living in Wales, where they welcomed their 2 boys. In 2004/2005, they decided to return to the United States and Rich found employment with L3 which is now known as V2X as an Avionics Technician/Electrician fixing Jets for the Navy in NAS Kingsville. At the time of his passing, he was part of the Quality Assurance team. If you knew Rich, you knew that besides his family his great love was the Pittsburgh Steelers. He'd followed the team all his life from his beginnings in Pennsylvania up through his time in the heart of Dallas Cowboys/Houston Texans country, his adoration would not be dissuaded. He frequently reminded anyone that would diss his team that the Steelers were far superior as they were one of only 2 teams with 6 Super Bowl wins. He was an avid John Wayne fan due to the numerous hours of his childhood spent watching old movies with his father, grandfather, and uncles. As much as he enjoyed the nostalgia of the past, he also had hope that the future would mirror, somewhat, the ideals in Star Trek that he started watching practically from birth as his mother was a true Trekkie. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting charitable donations to any of the following: Disabled American Veterans: www.dav.orgWounded Warrior Project: www.woundedwarriorproject.orgGulf Coast Humane Society: www.gchscc.org
