Robert Henry “Bob” Dunlavy, was born September 15, 1929 in Eagle Lake, Texas and passed away July 29, 2010 in a hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas, surrounded by his loving family. Bob moved to Corpus Christi in 1941, graduated from Corpus Christi High School in 1948, served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War and then worked at Koch (Flint Hills) for 26 years before his retirement. He was an avid hunter, who loved to hunt with his sons. He was passionate about his “gun” hobby. Many came to him for help with hunting and gun problems or just a good story. He loved a good joke if it was on him or he was playing it on you. He loved to pick on you until you laughed. Bob never met a stranger and was caring to all who knew him. Bob loved all of his family with complete devotion, and will be missed greatly by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Henry “Bobby” Dunlavy, Jr., his parents, Clyde Dunlavy and Tommie Dunlavy Bowie, Bill and Ruby Benton and Hazel Dunlavy; his step brother, Houston Scarborough. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Lou Ann Dunlavy of Corpus Christi, Texas; sons, Bill (Judy) Dunlavy of Alice, Texas and Tom (Starla) Dunlavy of Corpus Christi, Texas; grandsons, Billy (Ashli) Dunlavy of Alice, Texas, Joby Dunlavy of Austin, Texas, Ryan Dunlavy of Corpus Christi, Texas; granddaughter, Lezlie Dunlavy of Corpus Christi, Texas; great grandsons, Dustin Peterson and Walker Dunlavy of Alice, Texas; step dad, Phillip (Vernie) Bowie, Ronnie and Mike Bowie and families; sister, Sally (Clyde) Pray of Cedar Lane, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews and many close friends. Visitation will be from 2 P.M. until 8 P.M. with the family present from 4 P.M. until 6 P.M. Sunday, August 1, 2010 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 A.M. Monday, August 2, 2010 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with David Tiner officiating. Burial will follow in Robstown Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Tommy Miller, Rick Solomon, Mike LaRose, Billy Dunlavy, Joby Dunlavy and Jody Keys. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack “Sonny” Connor, Joe Hinojosa, Joe Fears, David Miller, Dennis Meyers and Jeff Janak.
