Roy James Pickens, born on January 6, 1937, in Leedy, Oklahoma, to Roy and Mamie Pickens, passed away on May 7, 2025, in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was 88 years old.
Roy attended Mancos High School in Mancos, Colorado, where he laid the foundation for a life characterized by hard work and dedication. He enjoyed a successful career at Koch Industries, contributing his skills and expertise over the years.
Beyond his professional life, Roy was deeply passionate about his family and friends. He cherished the moments spent with loved ones and took great pleasure in outdoor activities such as fishing and hunting. These hobbies became a significant part of his life, providing joy and cherished memories for him and those around him.
Roy is survived by his devoted wife, Laura Pickens, and their four sons: Ora Dean (Becky) Pickens, Arnon (Nerissa) Pickens, Clayton (Hope) Pickens, and Bradley Pickens. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, alongside a legacy of nine grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of immense pride and happiness in his life.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Mamie Pickens, as well as his siblings, Harold Pickens and Juanita Pickens. His passing marks the end of an era filled with love, laughter, and a deep commitment to family. He will be remembered fondly for his warmth, kindness, and the lasting impact he made in the lives of those fortunate enough to know him.
Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, June 22, 2025 from 12:00pm - 3:00pm at the VFW Post 3837, 12030 Leopard Street, Corpus Christi, TX 78410.
