Ruth Maria Garcia

Ruth Maria Fuentes Garcia died peacefully with her children at her side on October 27, 2025. She was born on Feb 27, 1939 to Luis Sr. and Manuela C. Fuentes at the family home in Hebbronville, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Alfredo ( Freddie) D. Garcia, her father, Luis Fuentes Sr., and her mother, Manuela (Meme) C. Fuentes.

She is survived by her 3 daughters: Nancy G. Morales of Corpus Christi Texas, Iris (Bonney) Gutierrez of Odem Texas , Delma (Raymond) Macias of San Antonio Texas and her 2 sons: Alfredo (Victoria) Garcia Jr. of Alice Texas and Daniel ( Veronica) Garcia of Corpus Christi Texas. She also leaves behind her 2 brothers: Luis (Olivia) Fuentes Jr. of Kingsville Texas and Eliud (Zoila) Fuentes of Boerne Texas; her sister in law, Janie Garcia of Zapata Texas; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

When Ruth was a child , her family moved from Hebbronville to Kingsville Texas where her father established a dry-goods business, El Nuevo Mundo. Ruth worked in the family business as a teenager and attended Texas A&I University in Kingsville after graduation to study education.

Ruth accepted her first teaching job in Pearsall, Texas and taught special education. There she met the love of her life, Alfredo (Freddie) D. Garcia, they married Dec 26, 1966, lived in Corpus Christi Texas for short time, and eventually settled in Kingsville Texas where she raised her 5 children.

After retirement, Ruth enjoyed Church bingos, going out to eat, family barbecues, shopping at Dollar Tree and Walmart, going to the movies, and spending time with family, especially participating in shenanigans with her adult grandchildren.

Ruth will be remembered for her deep Catholic faith and unwavering belief in God. She prayed daily for herself and family’s health and wellbeing. She led by example to love unconditionally and pray faithfully.

Visitation will be held at Sawyer-George Funeral Home, 12497 Leopard St., Corpus Christi, TX 78410 on November 02, 2025 at 3 pm with a Rosary to follow at 7 pm on the same day. Services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Odem, TX on November 03, 2025 at 10 am. Interment will follow at San Pedro Cemetery in Odem, TX.
