Velma Naomi Brown

Velma Naomi Brown, a cherished soul born on November 23, 1933, in the heart of San Benito, Texas, ascended to her eternal rest on November 5, 2025. Her life was a vibrant tapestry woven from the threads of love, devotion, and serene strength. A dedicated homemaker, Velma embodied the essence of nurturing, casting a warm glow on her family as a beloved mother and grandmother whose love was as boundless as the horizon.

Her journey commenced in the bustling halls of Tuloso Midway High School, where she laid the foundation of her remarkable life. Velma’s heart was not merely content in her domestic pursuits; it soared when she embraced the world beyond her doorstep. A spirit of adventure thrived within her, manifesting in a passion for traveling to foreign countries, immersing herself in diverse cultures, and savoring new experiences. Moreover, she found joy in the artistry of sewing, the warmth of baking, the tranquility of gardening, and the thrill of watching football—pursuits that revealed her multifaceted personality.

A devout member of Annaville Baptist Church, Velma drew strength and community from her faith, which was an integral part of her being. Her guiding light extended not only to her immediate family but also to all those fortunate enough to know her.

Velma's family legacy is carried forth by her living kin, which includes her devoted daughter, Diana Pugh (Bill), and her beloved son, Buster Brown. Her grandchildren—Zane Pugh (Lana), Brittany McDonald (Norman), and Brooke McArthur (Justin)—will forever cherish the memories made with their cherished grandmother, reflections of her unyielding love and timeless lessons.

Though her earthly existence has concluded, she joins her departed loved ones in the realm beyond. Velma is survived by the tender memory of her father, Richard; her mother, Ruth Pearl Johnson (Spencer), and her stepfather, William Darrell Spencer, who raised her with love. She also reunites with her sister, Betty Dolan, and her brother, John Johnson, alongside her devoted husband, Bud Brown, whose memory will be eternally cherished.

In remembrance of her life, a graveside service will be held on November 17, 2025, at 2:30 PM, located at Memorial Park Cemetery in Robstown, Texas. Family and friends will gather to celebrate the spirit of Velma Naomi Brown, who leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and unwavering kindness that will resonate in the hearts of those she touched. She will forever remain a guiding star in our lives.
