Venilde “Vee” Marez Acuna, 76, of Corpus Christi, Texas, died in Corpus Christi on April 21, 2024, after a brief illness.
She was born in Taft, Texas on October 9, 1947 to Daniel Perez and Sista Flores Perez. She spent her childhood and early adult years living in Mathis, Texas before moving to Sinton, Texas. She earned her nursing license and worked at Sinton Manor Nursing home for over 20 years. In 1996, she started a home health business that she and her children operated for 22 years.
Venilde was preceded in death by her father, Daniel Rodriguez Perez, mother, Sista Perez Vasquez, and her brother Daniel Perez, Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Arnold Acuna; her children, Esteban (Rose) Marez, and Denise (Shane) Zollicoffer; grandchildren, Steven Marez Jr., Daniel Marez, Joshua Zollicoffer, Caleb Zollicoffer, Matthew Marez, and Emily Zollicoffer; great-grandchildren, Mia Marez and Roselynn Marez.
Venilde touched the lives of countless people who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be remembered as someone who was compassionate, kind, humble, gentle, selfless, forgiving, and beautiful both inside and out. We will miss her but rejoice in the fact that she is no longer in pain and in the presence of her Lord Jesus and the family who went before her.
Visitation is to be held at Sawyer-George Funeral Home on Thursday, April 25, 2024, from 6:00pm-8:00pm. The funeral service will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024, at 10:00am at Annaville Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Descanso Eterno Cemetary in Mathis, Texas. A luncheon will follow the burial at Primera Iglesia Bautista in Mathis.
