W. Johnson, Sr.

W. R. “Bob” Johnson, Sr., 89, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away Friday, November 2, 2018. He was born April 27, 1929 in Montclair, New Jersey to William Pitt Johnson and Helene Schelje Johnson. He had owned and operated Johnson’s Exxon and then Bob Johnson’s Wrecker Service for many years until his retirement. He was a charter member of both the Industrial Lions Club and Jackson Woods Presbyterian Church. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his loving bride, Shirley Coombes Johnson. He is survived by his children, Nancy (Dana) Gunter, Bill (Nancy) Johnson, Sherry (Brian) Richter and Susan Johnson; a sister, Nancy Johnson Sterling; and was called “Paw” by his 10 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren. He loved living life to the fullest, laughter, family, hard work and was a devoted son, husband, father, brother, Paw and friend. Visitation with the family present will be from 3 P.M. until 5 P.M. Sunday, November 4, 2018 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 P.M. Monday, November 5, 2018 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens. His loving grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers friends are asked to make contributions to the Texas Lion’s Children’s Camp, P. O.
