ZR Bright

July 31, 1932 - October 7, 2025

Zilman Ray (Pete) Bright Jr. was born July 31st, 1932, to Zilman Ray and Ida Meeks Bright in Corpus Christi, Texas. He went home to his Heavenly Father on October 7, 2025, surrounded by his loving daughters, Terri Long, Carol Hutchison, Lisa Bright, and his faithful friend and companion, Dona Duke.

Pete was a quiet man known for his spontaneous wit that brought smiles to all who knew him. He was an avid hunter, a passion surpassed only by his deep love for family and friends. His most cherished hunting experiences were with his daughters, their families, Dona, and his nephews. These adventures took him throughout Texas to Alaska and Illinois, creating memories that will live on forever. Family weekends and holidays at “The Lake” provided enjoyable times for which we will always be thankful.

He graduated from Miller High School, served in the Naval Reserve, and worked for Southwestern Oil Refinery. ZR Bright Construction Company, founded during his years with the refinery, brought him notoriety as a builder of quality custom homes. Pete’s measure of personal success was based on the satisfaction of his many clients.

Pete will forever be remembered as a man of character, strength, love, and devotion to all who knew him. Together, we will keep and share his legacy for generations to come.
