Barbara A. (Owens) Chandler, 86 of Robstown, Texas peacefully passed away on November 6, 2022 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born September 10, 1936 in Gonzalez County to the late Albert C. and Vera Mae (Parr) Owens. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, James “Bubba” Owens.
Barbara attended Sinton High School and graduated in the class of 1954. After graduation she attended cosmetology school. Barbara worked for Stevenson Beauty College as an instructor for several years and then went on to manage the Magic Lady located in Corpus Christi. After retiring from cosmetology, which she loved, Barbara received her Real Estate license where she worked for Berney Seal Company Realtors for several years. Later in life, Barbara was a secret shopper, where she met and enjoyed the company of many people.
On September 10, 1970 Barbara and Bobby Chandler were united in marriage. Bobby was the love of her life! Barbara, also called “Mimi” by her loved ones, had an undying love for all animals, especially cats. Her hobbies included sewing for her grandchildren, couponing, and spending time at their ranch in Orange Grove. She enjoyed working in the garden and rescuing stray animals. Barbara was a member of Kings Crossing Church of Christ and was extremely proud that she recently was able to rededicate her life to Christ!
She is survived by her loving, dedicated husband of 52 years, Bobby C. Chandler (Robstown,Tx); her sons, Michael(Debra) Wood (Iola,Tx) and Randy (Carol) Wood (Dickinson, Tx); 7 grandchildren, and 16 great- grandchildren who will miss her dearly. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Corpus Christi.
The visitation will be held on Monday, November 21, 2022 from 10:00AM to 12:30PM with the funeral service to begin at 12:30PM at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. The interment will follow at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery at 2:00PM. Services entrusted to Sawyer-George Funeral Home, 12497 Leopard St. Corpus Christi, Texas 78410.
