Calvin Fanchier

May 14, 1948 — May 4, 2022

Corpus Christi

Calvin Earl Fanchier, 73, loving husband and father, went to be with the Lord on May 4, 2022. Calvin was born in Biloxi, Mississippi in May of 1948 to parents Millard and Jennie Fanchier. Life soon moved the family to Corpus Christi, Tx where Calvin was raised with his three younger sisters. Calvin was influenced by his family to be a compassionate and loving man that nurtured relationships and gave much of his time to help and serve others. In 1978 he met his wife of 43 years, Margaret, who he loved with all his heart. The two of them remained inseparable until his passing and conquered all of life’s adventures and challenges together as true partners.

Calvin dedicated his career to serving clients in the oil and gas industry. For many years, he was referred to as the “Candy Man” because every time he’d visit a rig site or client’s office, he’d bring the staff and crew a big bag of candy that would satisfy any sweet tooth. His work ethic was unmatched. If a customer needed something in the middle of the night and there wasn’t a driver available to deliver the equipment or part, Calvin would deliver it to the site himself. He retired from Weatherford at age 65 and entered into the years of nurturing his new clients, the birds and his garden. Calvin and Margaret spent most of their retirement evenings watching and photographing the birds as they came to eat from the many bird feeders and to bathe in the cascading fountain.

His greatest loves in life were his family, his friends, and his faith. Calvin made it a point to not only tell his loved ones that he loved them every time he spoke to them, but he showed through acts of kindness as well. There was no favor too great and no limit to the amount of his time he was willing to give to someone in need. He was dedicated to the word of God and enjoyed reading, studying, and discussing scripture. While those of us still on earth with miss Calvin’s incredible light being with us, we know he is rejoicing with the Lord and reuniting with those loved ones that have passed before him.

When Calvin joined the choirs of angels in heaven, he left behind his wife, Margaret Fanchier, daughter Misty Smith and her husband Jason, step-daughter Diana Black and her husband Dennis, step-son Wally Grabowske III and his wife Nadine, sister Cloye McGinley and her husband Jackson, sister Linda Brown, sister Tami Moyer, nephew Randy Gann, nephew Mike Gann, nephew Trey Gann, nephew William McGinley, niece Shelly Maldonado, granddaughter Cadence Smith, step-grandchildren Jonathan Black, Wally Grabowske IV, Brian Black, Lauren Black, and numerous step-great grandchildren
