Edna Mae “Memaw” Davis departed this world at the age of 94 on December 31, 2021. She was born on September 7, 1927, to James W. and Nettie R. Parks in Cowlington, Oklahoma. She grew up an oilfield worker’s daughter and went into nurses training where she met and married the love of her life, Fred Lee “Tag” Davis. She was a housewife that raised four children and then became a traveling companion to her husband accompanying him on numerous adventures to foreign countries where Tag’s work took them. Following retirement, they settled in Henderson, Texas and raised Arabian horses and spent a lot of time with their children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Tag and two sons, Michael Lee Davis, and David Gene Davis, and two brothers, James C. “Brub” Parks and Gene Edwin “Doc” Parks.

She is survived by her sister, Joanne “Jody” Faseler, one daughter, Cheryl Davis Stevenson (David) and one son, Chuck Davis (Julie). Nine grandchildren: Amiee Stevenson Rogers (Matt), Jesse Lee Davis (Brandy), Luke Davis (Brenda), Lauren Keely Davis Tucker, Emily Stevenson Holiday (Chris), Jenny Davis Green (Nicholas), Mandy Davis Thompson (Shane), Wylie Stevenson (Bailey), and Taylor Stevenson (Paula). 24 beautiful great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

We would like to share this poem written by her son, Michael Lee Davis:

Only My Temporary Home

This world at times

May make you feel lost and alone

Remember, this world

Is just our temporary home.

This is just a place

That for now, I’m here

Heaven is where I long to be

Near my Savior so dear.

Whenever he calls

I’ll go to my final home,

Where loved ones are waiting

For me to come.

We’ll all praise the Lord

When we get there.

No other place has been like it,

Or in no way can compare.
