James William Kurth, Sr, 68, passed away on September 20, 2021 due to a stroke. He was born December 20, 1952 in Woodbury, NJ. He relocated to Corpus Christi during his service in the Navy where he proudly served from 1970 to 1974, becoming an aircraft mechanic. He carried that knowledge and experience throughout his life and most recently rebuilt a 1947 Ford Coupe and made it into a veteran tribute car. He proudly displayed the car at shows, veteran organizations and veteran funerals. He was honored to become a member of the Patriot Guard Riders of South Texas for the last 8 years and attended hundreds of veteran funerals.
He is survived by his loving wife Irene (Villarreal), who he adored. He is also survived by his sons, James W. Kurth, Jr (Katy), Carl E. Kurth and Keith W. Kurth (Mindi). Also, daughter-in-law Jennifer Kurth, step-sons Ruben and Merriel Solesky and Martin Villarreal, step-daughters Victoria Solesky, Brandy and Candace Carreares and adopted daughter Jasmine Kurth DeLeon.
He was the proud grandfather to Madison, Bry, Brooklyn, Kail, Lorelai, Jiovanni, Rhiannon and Aubree.
He also leaves to mourn his maternal Aunt, Nora Bratton and 7 siblings, Gayle McCaughey (Charles), Mary Lou Coache, Brenda Kurth, Cathy Normand (Greg), Carla Scroggins (David), Russell Williams (Danelle) and Robyn Frumento (Paul). And many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his father, Carlton F. Kurth Jr., mother Betty B Williams (Thomasson) and his precious son, James Ryan Kurth.
Services will be held on October 8, 2021 at 1:30 P.M. Located at Sawyer George Funeral Home 12497 Leopard St. Corpus Christi, TX 78410 followed by graveside interment and full military honors at 3:00 P.M. at the Coastal Bend Veterans Cemetery located at 9974 IH 37 Access Road, Corpus Christi, TX 78409
