Obituary

Jimmie Austin Dunn - A father to two and a friend of thousands-died March 20, 2021, in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was 69.

Born May 28, 1951 in Falfurrias, Texas to Bennie R. Dunn and Joy M. Sens. Jimmie was an avid lover of the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, and clay and pigeon shooting the most. He dearly loved Falfurrias, where he owned and operated Dunn Chevrolet Buick Pontiac. He also was a two term mayor for the town of Falfurrias.  Jimmie enjoyed the challenges of running his own business and overseeing the town, but he was the happiest being outdoors with a shotgun or fishing pole in his hands.

Educated at Falfurrias High School and Southwest Texas in San Marcos. While at Southwest Texas he was the President of his fraternity, Pi Kappa Alpha.  He was wise beyond his education, and people of all ages in life enjoyed his quick wit and humor.

Jimmie will be remembered for his jokes, entertaining stories, generous smile, and his willingness to come at any time of the day or night to help a neighbor or friend in need.

In his later years, his failing health robbed him of his strength and stamina, but it also gave him a softness we all treasured.  During this time, he taught us patience and allowed us to show him a small measure of the service he had long showed all of us.

His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his adoring children Heather Dunn and Hunter Dunn (Kim Sellars) and his grandson Jordon Garcia. We would be remiss if we did not mention his life long four legged companion, Diamond.

He is preceded in death by his father Bennie Dunn, sister Deborah Gress, sister Judy Dawson and his mother Joy Dunn.

The family wishes to thank the Windsor Calallen Regency Health Care Facility and Bay Area Hospital for their thoughtful service and tender care. Friends are invited to celebrate Jimmie’s life in Corpus Christi at a Memorial Service at Sawyer George Funeral Home on Wednesday March 31, 2021 at 2pm with the family receiving visitation from 1-2pm.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Corpus Christi Chapter of the Coastal Conservation Association.
