Michael Neil Smith went to be with the Lord on June 12th, 2021. He passed peacefully at home with his family by his side after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born July 5, 1954, in Refugio, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents Richard and Rachelle Chipman and by his sister Dani Smith. He is survived by his wife of 30 years Dianna Smith, his son; Mark Anthony Smith (Kenzie), grandchildren (his pride and joy) Lennox, Lonan and Lyric Smith, His sisters; Robin Yates and Bitsy Watson of Temple Texas, His special nieces; Charlene Almazan and Cheryl Basham of Corpus Christi, Texas. Uncle, Aunts, and numerous nieces and nephews. Michael was a member of ChristCentral Baptist Church. Michael worked in the oil and gas industry for most of his career, starting as a hired hand and working his way up to management level. He was well known and respected throughout the oil field community. Along the way, he developed many dear and lasting friendships. Michael spent his free time playing guitar, fishing, and restoring old Volkswagens with his son, Mark. He will be sincerely missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Services will be held at Sawyer-George Funeral Home, with a gathering starting at 10 a.m. and the service at 11 a,m. Committal service to follow at Robstown Memorial Park. Officiating the service will be Reverend Ralph Green.
