Nathelene Emma (Goericke) Hoelscher

September 11, 1927 ~ June 4, 2022 (age 94)

Obituary

Nathelene E. Hoelscher, who called herself "just a simple country girl," died on June 4, 2022. She was born on September 11, 1927 to Walter Goericke and Laura Menn Goericke near Bishop, Texas. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She met her husband Walter Hoelscher at a Community dance in Violet, where they later married in 1946 at St. Anthony Catholic Church. They raised their four children in the Violet community.
Nathelene worked many years in the school food service at Robstown ISD and the Tuloso-Midway ISD. She served as a cafeteria manager for several years at the Tuloso-Midway High School. She also served as president of the local Texas Association for School Nutrition. She retired in 1990 after twenty-five years of food service. In the spring and summer months, she tended her garden and canned the vegetables and made jellies to share with family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of thirty-six years, Walter G. Hoelscher, her sister Lorene (Jim) Lambert, and her brother Walter (Patricia) Goericke, Jr. and her brother-in-law Frank Kubes.
She is survived by her two sons, Gustave (Gus) and Charles Hoelscher of Violet, Texas and her two daughters Carolyn (Larry) Snapka and Lucille (Alfred) Snapka of Corpus Christi, Texas. She is survived by six grandchildren, Sammy (Amanda) Hoelscher of Florida, Sheila (Adrian) Flores of Castroville, Brian (Cristina) Snapka of Kingwood, Marsha Snapka of Cedar Park, Steven Snapka of San Antonio, and Ben (Alana) Snapka of Frisco, Texas, and 8 great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Rosalee Kubes of East Bernard, in-laws Raymond (Judith) Hoelscher of Corpus Christi, Marguerite Hoelscher of Violet, John Fredette of Florida, Marilyn Lambert of Odem and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Violet on Monday, June 20, 2022 with the rosary recited at 10:30 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Rev. Zenon Konowalek, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery.


The family would like to thank the hospice staff of Nurses on Wheels and Dr. Andres Bonelli for their love, care, and support.
