Obituary

Troy Daniel Johnson (Danny) on Tuesday, November 8th, left his earthly home surrounded by his loving family after courageously battling cancer to enter into his heavenly home with our Lord.  Danny was born on January 28, 1947 to Troy and Betty E. Johnson in Corpus Christi, Texas.  He graduated from Roy Miller High School in 1965 and retired from Citgo Refinery in 2006 after 32.5 years.  He loved to vacation, fish and hunt with family and friends but most of all he loved to visit and share a meal with them.     

Danny met the love of his life in high school, Tommie Kay Fox Johnson, they were married 55 years.  They have two children, Denise J Stripling (Will) and Troy D Johnson Jr (Kandyce) and four amazing grandchildren, William K Stripling V, Daniel H. Stripling, Kara D Johnson and Trista K Johnson.  Survived by his sister, Betty Jane Weidenfeld (David) and brother-in-law William (Bill) Fox Jr. (Dianne), nieces Tricia K (Garrett) Williams, Kathryn (Matt) Goolsby, nephews, Robert M Fox, James D Van Atta, John A (Lynette) Van Atta, and great niece Katarina and numerous cousins.  He will always be remembered for his dedication to his family and love of food, fellowship and friends.   

The family is grateful for his friends, family and colleagues who reached out during this illness.  We are also sincerely thankful for his caregivers Merida, Patsy and Teresa, nurses Crystal and Suzie and Devoted Healthcare and Hospice.  A very special thank you to his “culinary family” Gus, Susan “Bama”, Larry, Stacy, Darlene, Terry Ann, Sophia, Lydia, Christina, Monica, Cindy, Jason and Susan, you always made his day brighter.  
The visitation will be held on Friday, November 18, 2022 from 3:00PM-8:00PM at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. The service will begin at 2:00PM on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home.
