November 23, 1932 ~ March 21, 2022 (age 89)

Obituary

Bruce was born on November 23, 1932 to Hobart Cox and Ima (Barnes) Cox in Mexia, TX. Surrounded by his family, he left this world to be with our Heavenly Father on March 21, 2022.

Bruce was the youngest of 3 boys. Soon after he was born, his family moved to Taft, TX, where he started the 1st grade. On his first day of school, Bruce was sent home for kissing a girl; this may explain why he finished elementary school at Crosley Elem. then attended Driscoll Middle school in Corpus Christi, TX. Bruce graduated from Corpus Christi High School in 1950. He went on to go to Del Mar College and A&I in Kingsville before joining the Army where he was stationed in El Paso, TX. While home on leave, he ran into an old High School friend, Lois Richie, and they started dating. They were soon engaged and on 8/11/1954 he married the love of his life. After being discharged from the Army, Bruce and his new Bride started their family; he also started his career at South Western Oil Refinery, where he worked until he retired in 1996. Around 1960, Bruce and Lois built a home together on Glenwood in Annaville, TX, where they raised their family and lived until the day he passed. Bruce loved playing football with all the neighborhood kids and nominated himself as coach and quarterback for both sides. The kids in the neighborhood loved Bruce and would knock on their door to ask Lois if her big boy could come out and play. He coached Little League Baseball for many years. Summers were always spent at Garner State Park camping. Winters were spent hunting on the deer lease at the Foster Ranch in Willow City, TX. He loved Calallen Football and for years never missed a game. Upon Retirement, Bruce and Lois enjoyed taking trips with their 5 th wheel all over the United States and Canada. They also belonged to a camping club “Coastal Bend Land Sailors” where they made many friends. Bruce loved golf and could be found most days playing at River Hills Country Club. He also enjoyed going to Annaville Baptist Church and the fellowship he had with his friends there.

Bruce was preceded in death by his Parents - Hobart and Ima Cox; Brothers and their wives - Gene & June Cox and James & Peggy Cox. He is survived by his loving wife Lois Cox (Corpus Christi, TX), his daughter Brenda Eubanks (Robstown, TX), his son and wife Ronnie & Mo Cox (Odem, TX), his grandson Clint Madsen (Robstown, TX), his grandson and wife Utah & Danielle Cox (Sandia, TX), his granddaughter Montana Cox (Vail, CO), his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Mildred and Dennis Robertson (Willow City, TX), and his faithful dog Mia.
