William Stovall

William Melvin (Bud) Stovall, Jr. went to his eternal home on October 28, 2020. Bud was born on July 2, 1930 to Melvin and Thelma Stovall of Brownsville, Texas. He graduated from Brownsville High School and went on to Baylor University, where he earned his degree in Business. Bud served in the United States Army from 1951-1953.

Bud was a farmer and sold farm machinery in Mexico. He married his wife, JoAnn Hanna in 1957. Together they raised three children; Shannon and Sara, both of Corpus Christi, and Will, of Deer Park, Texas.

Bud was a member of First Baptist Church Brownsville where he served as deacon and was active in mission work. He joined River Hills Baptist Church when he and JoAnn moved to Calallen in 1992. He participated in numerous mission trips to Mexico where Bud got to speak Spanish to everyone! Bud also shared his love for the Lord with inmates at the local prison. He and his good friend Calistro Cavazos made a difference in the lives of many men and women through their prison ministry. Bud was also a proud and active member of the Gideons in both Brownsville and Corpus Christi.

Bud is survived by his wife and children, his brother Ran Stovall (Liz) of Austin, his sister Leah Jones (Allen) of Austin, brother-in-law Homer Hanna (Marilyn) of Beeville, grandson Curtis Miller (Kara) and great granddaughter Avey of Baltimore, MD, grandson Kevin Miller of College Station, and grandson Cameron Cantu of Corpus Christi. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and wonderful friends.

A memorial service celebrating Bud’s life, his love for the Lord, and his heavenly homecoming will be held at River Hills Baptist Church on Monday, November 2nd at 2:00 pm.
