Miller, Jesse

Jessie Eugene Miller passed away on August 28, 2018 in Corpus Christi, Texas at Holmgreen Assisted Living at the age of 73. He was born in Alice, Texas, to Edith Miller and Cliff Miller.  Jessie was preceded in death by his mother, Edith Weeks and stepfather, J.P. Weeks.  He was also preceded by his brother, Jay Weeks and his father, Cliff Miller.

Jessie is survived by his wife of 30 years, Nancy Gibbs Miller. In addition, Jessie leaves his sons, Jason Miller and Jeff Miller and granddaughters, Presley Miller, Renee Miller and Sydney Miller.  He leaves his stepdaughter, Brandy Simpson Moreno and husband Chuck Moreno and his grandson, Mason Dulane Moreno.

Jessie has three remaining sisters, Carolyn Matlock, Linda Edlin, and Marilyn Pettitt and her husband John Pettitt. His brothers are Mickey Weeks and Earl Weeks.  Finally, he is survived by his stepmother, Chris Miller and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

After graduating from H.M. King High School in Kingsville, Texas, he attended Texas A&I University. Jessie served in the U.S. Army including a tour of duty in Germany.  After the Army, he worked for Citgo Refinery as a unit supervisor until his retirement.

Jessie enjoyed many hobbies and lived a big life. Some of the things he enjoyed were golfing, piloting an airplane, hunting, fishing and spending time at his cabin in the hill country.  Jessie also loved his authentic chuck wagon: participating in cook-offs and sharing Dutch oven cooking and cowboy history with students at the school where his wife Nancy was the principal.  Calallen football was an important part of his life.  He was a booster club member and held the “Cat” sign at home games.

It brings us peace to know he is with his Lord because of John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Services will be conducted on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at Sawyer- George Funeral Home Chapel.
